Nicky Konings-Knippenberg was born on February 17th, 1964. After a successful career as a makeup artist in theater, film and television, I found time to engage me back to my original passion: clay.
Around 1984 I start with sculpture and ceramics at the Art Academy in The Hague. Until 1990 I work with great excitement on objects with different materials and techniques. In 2002 I am inspired again with the creation of objects . I attent classes from various artists. To refine my techniques I decided in 2005 to attent a traditional course in ceramics at SBB Gouda. This I successfully completed in 2008.
I let myself be inspired by different cultures and countries. In particular Nepal, India and Mongolia. Especially the Nomads intrigue me intensely. I try to express the human emotions and the difficulties in life in my work. I enjoy textile printing in my objects and also gold, silver and bright colours. My work can be found in various galleries and private collectors.
Since 2008 I work as a visual arts lecturer at the Cultural Center "The Koorenhuis" in The Hague and teach ceramics in my own studio.
